Accelerating Together
The National Technology Strategy (NTS) identifies ten key enabling technologies which contribute to economic growth, national security and societal solutions. The Dutch government, academia and industry collaborate to strengthen the ecosystems surrounding these technologies. The soon to be published Action Plan Integral Innovation (AII) provides actions which policy makers, research funders and knowledge institutes can undertake to strengthen the societal impact of innovations. Key is an 'integral innovation approach' whereby social- and societal knowledge and innovations are combined with technological innovation through inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration. Although the value of this approach is often recognized, practice shows that this integral innovation-potential can be maximized!
During this session we will show how the integrated innovation approach can strengthen and accelerate the societal impact of NTS key enabling technologies. We discuss what is needed to apply this approach, and how this pays off. Finally, we will develop ideas how to anchor this approach, and its societal benefits, in practice.
