Miekee Lam

Senior policy officer, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate

As a member of the KIA ST core team that coordinates the NTS implementation, Miekee represents the Ministry of Economic Affairs. In this public-private context, she brings in the governmental perspective to KIA ST and takes back other perspectives to shape governmental innovation policies. In fulfilling her role as senior policy officer, she also brings outside-in perspectives from her work experiences in both academia and the corporate world.

Miekee gained her PhD in MR physics (medical imaging technologies), as part of a public-private consortium. Her thesis reflects the translational character of her research, ranging from theoretical simulations to patient studies. While fascinated by the systems describing our (natural) world, she realized that an important driver in society was unknown to her – the financial system. Driven by curiosity, she stepped out of her comfort zone to discover the world of cash flows and related stakeholders, creating a new zone of comfort. Miekee now brings this broad palet of experiences and competences into her governmental role, to enable public-private innovations that bring science to society.
